Elisa Hayden
Welcome to My Blog!
My name is Elisa and I’ve created this blog to update family and friends about my experiences serving where the need is great in rural America. Sorry about the delay in getting it set up – but here we go!
A little about me – I had served in foreign language field(s) when I lived in Atlanta several years ago. At the time that I left to return to my home town in Kentucky, I was with a relatively new Karen S’gaw group that I enjoyed. Learning such a unique language, I thought that it was a waste not to use it again, if there was a need in the field. So, it was always my goal of returning to Karen, so I kept it a matter of prayer, though I didn’t know when and how it would happen.
Fast forward almost 10 years and here I am in the Karen S’gaw group again! I have to admit, remembering and learning the language this time around has been a little more challenging than when I was younger, but not impossible. I sometimes shy away from speaking the language because I lack confidence that I will say it correctly, so I’m trying to convince myself to be okay with mistakes and goof-ups….it’s the only way that I’m going to master this.
I plan on writing about my experiences serving where the need is great in the United States, in foreign language group, and living and serving in a small remote town. I will include my personal thoughts (these are only my opinions) and tips for anyone thinking about doing the same.
